Why attend this masterclass?

Competition for funding is getting tougher, and your funders are asking better questions about impact. Are you getting stuck in the middle, chasing the wrong data?

If you feel like you are pestering colleagues for data, struggling to translate frontline work or systemic change into funder-friendly language, and are under pressure to demonstrate impact without the systems or authority to do it properly, this session is for you.

In this free masterclass, you’ll learn what funders actually expect from impact reporting, how to focus on outcomes without overcomplicating measurement and how to confidently report your impact in a way that funders trust.

Who is this for?

This session is designed for fundraisers in small and medium-sized UK charities who:
  • Are responsible for impact reporting
  • Feel caught between funder expectations and internal capacity
  • Know their organisation is making a difference, but struggle to evidence it clearly
  • Want to stop firefighting and have confidence in their impact reporting

If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

What you’ll learn

In this 90-minute free masterclass, you’ll learn:
N
What funders really want from impact data — and what they don’t
N
Why doing impact work for the right reasons matters - and how this changes the way funders hear and trust your evidence
N
The difference between impact and outcomes — and why most organisations are better off focusing on outcomes
N
What good impact measurement actually looks like in practice
N
How to reduce over-collection, confusion and stress around data - without lowering standards or credibility

You’ll leave with a clearer picture of how to show impact in a way that funders trust –
and that your colleagues can get on board with.

What we’ll cover

During the session, we’ll explore:
^

Doing it for the right reasons

Why learning – not judgement – is the foundation of credible impact data

^

Outcomes, not “impact”

What funders are realistically looking for, and where many charities go wrong

^

What ‘good’ looks like

How to define relevant, proportionate and useful impact measurement

You’ll also have time to ask questions about your challenges
and how to overcome them.

A note from Emma

I have spent over 30 years working in and with charities – as a fundraiser, CEO, trustee, grants assessor and evaluation consultant.

For the past 15 years, my work has focused specifically on helping charities measure and demonstrate their impact in ways that work for funders and staff.

My approach is grounded in real-world practice across multiple causes – from frontline services to long-term systemic change – and shaped by my research into what funders actually respond to.

Show up live to the FREE training and you’ll get a FREE bonus

Got questions? Here are some answers.

Do I need a background in evaluation or impact measurement?

No. This session is designed for fundraisers and charity professionals – not evaluation specialists. The focus is on clarity, learning and confidence, not technical methods.

Do I need to be a fundraiser to attend?
No. Although this session is designed for fundraisers and charity professionals, anyone with responsibility for reporting impact to funders is welcome and will find value in the training.
Do I need to attend both sessions?
No. I’m running the same masterclass twice, so pick the date that works best for you.
Is this relevant if my organisation already collects impact data?
Yes. This webinar is about making sense of the data you already have and communicating it in a way funders trust and understand.
What if I can’t attend live?
Register anyway – a replay will be sent to everyone who signs up.
Can I bring a colleague?
Absolutely! Ask them to register.
Is this a sales webinar?
The session is primarily practical and educational. I will briefly share how I support charities that want more structured help at the end, but you’ll gain plenty of value regardless.
I have more questions. Can I speak to someone?
Absolutely. Email joanne@insleyconsulting.com, who will be happy to answer your questions.
